/ Overview
Nelo gives people in Mexico credit to buy in fortnightly payments, and lets them top up, pay bills and shop through its app. Tienda Nelo is the company's own marketplace: products sold by Nelo and by third-party merchants, all paid for with Nelo credit.
/ The challenge
When the store is also the lender, checkout is a credit decision. Buyers must be adults of Mexican nationality with verified ID, orders have to fit their available credit, and the business operates under consumer-protection and anti-money-laundering supervision.
It's a marketplace too, not a single store. Nearly 20,000 products from different sellers need one catalog, one checkout and payouts that keep merchants coming back.
/ What we built
Credit as the checkout
Nelo credit is the only way to pay, and every product page shows the four-payment schedule with dates.
Identity checks before purchase
ID verification is part of the buying flow, in line with Nelo's lending requirements.
Multi-seller marketplace
Products from Nelo and outside merchants in one catalog, with a seller program and integrations for merchants already on Shopify and marketplace tools.
Medusa-compatible commerce API
Products, regions, collections and customers served through a Medusa v1-style Store API behind Nelo's own gateway.
Trust signals
Free shipping and free returns badges, verified-purchase reviews and wishlists.
Next.js storefront
A Next.js App Router storefront on Vercel, in Spanish and Mexican pesos.
